Not Dead Yet
Hi, the few and faithful (that's you, Deals).
I do still exist. Things have been busy, I guess, or maybe I just
haven't had the writing bug. Let's catch you up.
I got through a very stressful first semester back in engineering
school. I took two classes; one professor was wonderful and the other
one ... wasn't. Towards the end of the semester, I started revising my
opinion of him a little, but it was still super-stressful. Both
classes were a ton of work (surprise, surprise), and every spare
moment was homework-time.
I didn't really do anything much of note during the semester: just
work and school.
As soon as finals were over, I left for a short Caribbean cruise (my
first cruise ever) and finally did something I've wanted to for a long
time: horseback riding on the beach. It was nice, if not as exciting
as I'd imagined. (I'd always thought of galloping in the surf, kicking
up sand and waves. This was more of walking into the water, standing
there for a few minutes, and walking out.) But I'm glad I got this
checked off my bucket list. I'm sitting in the airport right now
waiting for my flight home.
I'm working on rekindling a desire to date - I definitely felt the
lack of couple-hood on the cruise, and it's not fun to be single - but
I don't want to push myself back in just for the sake of not being
single. That's what I did last time, and it didn't work out so well. I
need to want to be in a relationship, with all that entails.
Unfortunately, my experiences over the last two years with
relationships and with therapy have destroyed my confidence in both.
So I'm hoping that time will be a healer, I suppose. Not sure how
that's supposed to work.
Here's hoping the next year will bring better things. For all of us.

Yay! I am so happy to hear that you are okay and returning home from cruising the Caribbean (um...jealous!). And congrats to the end of a stressful semester! Happy Holidays from Texas, Lia! :D
And here's to hoping that 2011 will be fabulous and bring wonderful things!
Just take your time and focus on you and the rest will come. Hopefully 2011 will be as awesome as we're all hoping!
